Conservation areas
Bukowica

A forest reserve with a surface area of 22.76 ha; it was set up in 1987. The reserve covers a part of the Tenczyn Prominence that has high wildlife and landscape value. In the first place, it protects fertile Carpathian beech forest with a well-preserved old growth stand which covers the prominence. 18 protected plant species grow here: Cephalanthera rubra the red helleborine, Cephalanthera damasonium the white helleborine and Corallorhiza trifida the early coralroot.
Numerous tree holes and a large quantity of dead wood enable rare bird species to nest, e.g. Ficedula parva the Red-breasted Flycatcher, Columba oenas the Stock Pigeon, Dryocopus Martusi the Black Woodpecker and Dendrocopos medium the Middle Spotted Woodpecker. A disused quarry provides an opportunity of getting familiar with a natural geologic profile. The quarry and rock outcrops characteristic for the Płaziński Block are other attractions of the reserve. The hill of Bukowica is built of Triassic rocks, highly varied lithologically.
